Vernay Moving and Storage
was established in 1903 by William J. Vernay. The company originally started as a taxi company and delivery service in Paterson, New Jersey
, which is an industrial town known for their silk mills and the manufacture of locomotives.
In 1946 William J. Vernay, Jr. returned from the war and took over the operation. During his years as the owner, he noticed the high demand for quality moving services. As the industry grew, so did Vernay Moving and Storage.
Small local companies started grouping together with individually owned and operated companies in other states, thus forming nationwide networks. This organization enabled the local mover to improve the quality and scope of services it provided the public.
